InterGeo: Global all-band precision GNSS IC

U-blox has created an all-band all-constellation precision GNSS receiver, a successor to its F9 IC with L6 reception and global precision coverage.

X20, as it will be known, “addresses the current high-precision GNSS needs around the world, and its design is equipped to also handle new and emerging technologies and standards”, according to the company. “The platform is designed for industrial automation, automotive and other applications that require centimetre position accuracy in challenging environments, as well as time synchronisation for critical infrastructure.”

Its integrated L-band receiver covers L1, L2, L5 and L6/E6 .

“The L5 band operates at lower frequencies than the L1 and L2 bands and benefits from improved signal properties, making L5 signals inherently more robust,” said u-blox. “X20 also adds support for the L6 band, used not only for navigation, but also correction services that help make position estimations more precise.”

Local base stations and correction types such as RTK (real-time kinematic), Network RTK and PPP-RTK are supported, as well as an option to use PPP (precise point positioning) corrections.”

“Together with a future PPP variant of PointPerfect, our customers will be able to take advantage of homogeneous correction data performance across all continents,” said u-blox CEO Stephan Zizala.

Security features include a root-of-trust, system authentication via secure boot, secure firmware update, message authentication and encryption, and platform supports Galileo OSNMA authentication combined with jamming and spoofing detection and mitigation.

X20 will be on-show at InterGeo in Stuttgart this week (24-26 September, hall 1, stand B1.039).
